Jamelia helps acts to be their own Boss

WHEN r'n'b star Jamelia got her big break, it was through her karaoke machine.

Now the Birmingham beauty (pictured) is helping other young talent take the big step with a unique education and performance event in Manchester.

Hugo Boss Rules is a music programme offering an opportunity for 20 unsigned urban artists to gain business and performance skills on a free two-day training course. The course culminates on May 24 in a huge live show when the artist that comes top of the class will perform at Sankey's in front of an MTV film crew - and share a stage with Jamelia.

"The course is about finding loopholes in the industry and ways in for new talent," she says. "I could have benefited from something like this."
