Night at the Opera for Kelly

DISCOVERED in Manchester: it's a tag the city has boasted since it helped The Stereophonics take their first step towards world domination as V2's first signing at In The City in 1996.

Since then, there's been many more ups for Kelly Jones and his crew, as well as some headline grabbing downs.

This time, he's shaken the lot of them off and taken to the road alone to promote his solo debut Only The Names Have Been Changed.

A sombre, stripped bare album consisting of eerie tales of 10 female protagonists, Only The Names got a strictly limited release last month and its 500 physical copies flew off the shelves faster than you could say 'Farewell Stereophonics'.

Kelly, though, has adamantly stated that his solo project is not the death knell for his rock outfit.

After a decade with a band behind him, Kelly might find the spotlight a lonely place. Expect a fragile and compelling performance.

Kelly Jones plays the Opera House on Sunday, April 1. Tickets are sold out. Click here for more information.
