Grimm Up North – horror and science fiction film festival at The Dancehouse Grimm Up North – horror and science fiction film festival at The Dancehouse

ADVERTORIAL

This weekend, horror and sci-fi fans will descend on Manchester for four days of movies, events, video games and much, much more. Packed with premieres, exclusives and some very special guests, the Grimm Up North film festival takes up residence at The Dancehouse on Oxford Road between October 28th and 31st - providing some timely frights for Halloween cinema-goers.

Now into its second year, the festival brings a hand-picked selection of films that can't be found in theatres around the city. From British chillers like the James Nesbitt-starring Outcast, to international festival hits like Amer, there's no end of cinematic delights on show... and, with 25 to choose from, there's one to suit every mood. Next to laugh-out-loud comedies like Reel Zombies, you'll find gore-fuelled treats like Dream Home. If it's a genre classic you're looking for, why not check out the new high definition print of Dario Argento's Deep Red, or if insane slice n' dice sci-fi is more your thing, the temptingly-titled Alien Vs Ninja could be just the ticket.

In addition to this fantastic programme, Grimm Up North also features stars like Gemma Atkinson (Hollyoaks) and Will Mellor (Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps), who'll be joined by directors, cast members and co-stars to talk about their new films in special Q&A sessions. The venue's Breakout Room will also host a series of seminars and signings featuring established authors and industry experts, while exhibitions will entertain with genuine items and artifacts from the big screen. Emerging talent is showcased in carefully chosen shorts - which preview before selected movies - and video game junkies are given something to celebrate with an exclusive first chance to play one of the year's most anticipated horror titles, Splatterhouse.

Passes are available that cover the bulk of the festival, while single tickets to specific shows and events are also on sale. You can even get specially-priced entry for the star-studded Gala Opening Night that serves up a musically-enhanced vintage classic followed by a genuine North West premiere - the perfect cinematic evening for one night only.
