Must see: Literature And Violence with Martin Amis

Martin Amis Martin Amis

Martin Harris Centre, Manchester University - July 1, 2010

As a writer known for his obsession with the zeitgeist, Martin Amis seems a fine choice to lead a discussion on violence in literature.

Famous for his unfortunate and immoral characters, Amis will lead a panel of noted writers and philosophers in a high brow debate about the psychological and cultural roots of violence and how writers have depicted and responded to it ever since Shakespeare.

Joining Amis – world famous author of Money and currently professor of creative writing at Manchester University’s centre for new writing – on the panel are author Blake Morris and political philosopher John Gray.

Since coming to Manchester, Amis has held regular stimulating literary events for students and the public.

As always, the audience is encouraged to put questions to the panel.

£7/£5 concs.
