Preview: Star Wars In Concert

There are nerds, and there are uber nerds. There’s even a subset above them – the Star Wars nerds. And that top dog in the nerds stakes gets its very own arena concert on Monday when music from the six-part movie epic is performed by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra and the Sheffield Philharmonic at the MEN Arena.

This, though, is far from just some classical recital of John Williams’ epic Star Wars scores. Backed by a three storey high screen showing snippets from the film and narrated live by C-3PO actor Anthony Daniels, the show is intended to recreate the feel and drama of the film.

Or as Star Wars creator George Lucas explains: "We’ve taken the key themes from the music and cut together all the images that fit with each theme so you can really get a sense of how the music played into the images. “The whole soundtrack is a testament to John Williams’ creativity and his extraordinary ability to enhance the emotional aspects of the films.”

MEN Arena - March 15, 2010 - £30.65-£66.50.
