The View The View

All too infrequently do our favourite bands take the opportunity to keep in touch with their most longstanding fans once festivals and theatres become their regular haunts.

Only last week, our very own Courteeners followed up their 2009 homecoming show at Manchester Central with a 400-capacity gig at The Ruby Lounge that prompted fans to camp out overnight just to get tickets. For many, the chance to do a bijou gig only comes along when they’ve got some new material to nervously test out on a manageable crowd.

And so to The View’s forthcoming gig at the Deaf Institute next week, where the legendarily raucous, Scottish four piece will try out tracks from their forthcoming new LP, speculated for release later this year.

No doubt, the bad taste that recent chart failures have left in their mouths has made The View (left) a bit twitchy. And so it should – it was gritty gigs and mega fans that made this band, and it’ll be gritty gigs and mega fans that set them back on the right musical path.

Deaf Institute - March 4, 2010 - SOLD OUT.
