Must see: Celebr8
DIVERSITY is something a city like Manchester likes to shout about.
It does, like many UK cities, boast a broad spectrum of nationalities and religions with pockets right in the centre dedicated to some of those communities: China Town, the Gay Village or the bohemian Northern Quarter, for example.
Raising a glass to difference and all inclusiveness this weekend is Celebr8 – organised by the Lesbian & Gay Foundation, at Princess House, on Princess Street, with support from Wai Yin Chinese Women’s Resource Centre, SEVA, Jewish LGBTQ group Keshet Manchester, Manchester City Council and Refugee Action, among others.
A mixed programme of arts awaits: poet Mike Garry will give his unique warts and all take on the city; Wai Yin performs Chinese opera; Keshet show excepts from the film Hineini; and there’s craft workshops and fun and games with the Big Manchester Quiz.
Not enough? Well then, surely the free world food buffet will seal the deal? Yes, we thought as much...
