Fundraving for Haiti at Band On The Wall
IF you’ve turned on a TV or opened up a paper in the past few weeks, you’ll have seen the devastation in Haiti.
The magnitude-7 earthquake which struck there on January 12 has left more than 150,000 people dead and destroyed the lives of many thousands more.
The charity world sprang into action almost as soon as the quake was reported, with a DEC-headed response the likes of which has not been seen since 2004’s Asian tsunami.
The clubs of Manchester, too, jolted into action, with a string of town’s favourite nights holding Haiti fundraisers in the time after the disaster struck.
Among those to have already urged revellers to put their hands in their pockets are Now Wave, Murkage, Micron and The Roadhouse.
Indeed, most clubs had collection buckets on the bar last weekend.
Tonight there’s another chance to give charitably as Eyes Down hit Band On The Wall for a fundraiser featuring DJ sets from Zero 7, The Unabombers, Hoya:Hoya and more. All acts are playing for free, so every penny goes to Haiti. You know what to do.
Dance For Haiti is on January 29, 2010 at Band On The Wall. 10pm-3am. £4 minimum donation.
