Peter Kay adds new dates

Peter Kay Peter Kay

PETER Kay has unveiled when he will be playing his five extra MEN Arena dates – and admitted he has been astonished by demand for his shows.

The Bolton comic will be appearing at the Arena in 2011 on September 27, 28, 29, and 30, and October 1. Tickets for those dates will go on sale tomorrow. Kay announced last month a 'Tour That Doesn't Tour Tour' for next spring,  intending to play just 20 shows, exclusively at the Arena.

But all 200,000 tickets sold out in a single morning, prompting 50 extra dates at major venues around the country and making Kay the fastest and biggest-selling comedy act in British history.

Kay revealed he had agreed to add the extra dates at the Arena at the end of the tour.

Now he has admitted the reason for his decision – he could no longer face the wrath of fans who could not get tickets!

'Night to remember'

He said: “People were shouting abuse at me on garage forecourts and shopping centres.

“Initially I was apprehensive about putting just four nights on sale - now I’m on tour for 18 months.

“But if people are happy to come, then I’m more than happy to give them a fantastic night to remember. Returning to Manchester brings the whole thing to a close for me and allows me to finish off back home.'

John Knight, general manager for the M.E.N Arena, said the box office has been inundated with phone calls  asking for extra Peter Kay dates.

He said: ''We are expecting a stampede for tickets when they go on sale tomorrow. This is the biggest tour so far by anyone for the new decade and to come full circle and end it back in Manchester is going to be very, very special.”

Tickets for the The Tour That Doesn’t Tour Tour - Farewell Tour go on sale at 10.00am at £35.
