Even more festive action in Piccadilly

AS we edge closer to Christmas, the city still has new events to celebrate it.

This week, there are two huge ones in Piccadilly Gardens – the opening of the Real Food Market and Manchester’s Yule Tube, a ‘Christmas card’ from the city to the world.

The markets open today and bring together local farmers and producers of fresh dairy, poultry, fish and meat. There are confectioners, cheese makers, pastry chefs, beer and cider brewers and olive growers too, as well as hot food on offer, including curries and African and Turkish delicacies.

By tomorrow, there’ll be a line of Mancunians circling the gardens waiting for their slot on the Yule Tube stage, where they get to record a 10 minute performance of them singing, dancing or doing a spot of topical ranting and comedy.

Both free entry.
Market: December 11 and 12, 2009 (10am-6pm)
Yule Tube: December 12 and 13, 2009 (11am-3pm).
