Saints and sinners at White Wedding in Ruby Lounge
WEDDINGS, eh? They’re kind of like club nights but with added vicars.
Think about it: you turn up in your best clobber, watch some other people kissing, and then dance until you fall over.
But have you ever been to a wedding at which rave heroes Utah Saints played a set? Probably not.
Well tomorrow night you’ll get the chance to do just that as White Wedding rolls into town, bringing with it a nuptial-themed mashup from the Something Good duo, along with everything you’d normally expect to see at a marriage ceremony – bar the actual vows.
The idea is the brainchild of promoters Rob Lewis, Gerard Phillips and Becky Hoghton, who, in association with a popular vodka brand’s Creative Grants scheme (which awards bursaries for clubbing innovation), are bringing their wedding disco to the Ruby Lounge.
Guests are invited to dress up in veils and suits for the event, at which the soundtrack will comprise familiar floorfillers from the likes of Madonna, the Jackson 5 and – of course – Lionel Richie.
There might even be some bouquet-throwing and confetti-hurling on the night, although it remains to be seen whether there’ll be a bridesmaid crying in the corner.
White Wedding is on November 7 at the Ruby Lounge, High Street. 9pm-3am. £6.
