Doves LP makes award shortlist

THEY may have missed out on a much-predicted Mercury Prize nomination, but the Doves camp should be buoyed by the news they’ve been shortlisted for another award.

As their Kingdom of Rush LP joins the likes of  Arctic Monkeys, Kings Of Leon, Bob Dylan, Super Furry Animals and The Horrors among 25 acts who are Uncut Music Award nominees.

The list will be cut to eight before the final decision is made and announced in the November issue of the magazine.

Judging the albums will be the magazine's editor, Allan Jones, Fleet Foxes' Robin Pecknold, Billy Bragg, folk singer Rachel Unthank, radio host Christian O'Connell, BBC creative head of music entertainment Mark Cooper, Stiff Records founder Dave Robinson plus broadcasters Mark Radcliffe, Bob Harris and Danny Kelly.
