A NEW website and interactive service for Oldham’s artists and arts providers is now online.

The Arts Room aims to bring together individuals and companies from the creative industries with organisations running community arts projects across Oldham.

A website at www.theartsroom.co.uk offers an impartial resource for artists and providers to network, explore work opportunities and generate high quality work in the local community.

The site also hosts a large number of quality images showcasing examples of community arts activities currently taking place across the borough.

An official launch for the project takes place on Wednesday, September 23, 3–5pm at The Museum on Greaves Street in Oldham.

Artists, creative practitioners, teachers and workshop leaders from across Oldham are welcome at this free drop-in day. A short film and presentation will introduce the project, with laptop computers available for people to access The Arts Room website.

Community artworks and site-specific installations will also be on view, with a young orchestra from St. Hilda’s C.E Primary School in Oldham providing music. Refreshments will be provided.

Cllr John McCann, Oldham Council’s Cabinet member for Community Services and Housing, said:

“The Arts Room puts Oldham on the map for innovative arts work in the North West. The project brings artists and community groups together to share ideas and develop arts activities across the borough.”

Visit www.theartsroom.co.uk to register your details. For more information on the project and launch event call 0161 770 3959 or e-mail nicola.hatton@oldham.gov.uk

The Arts Room is part of Oldham Council and is an Extended Services initiative working in partnership with Oldham Theatre Workshop.
