Super-powered Zinc out to make Manc move

WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU WON\'T BE THERE ON SATURDAY?: DJ Zinc WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU WON'T BE THERE ON SATURDAY?: DJ Zinc

MURKAGE and Contort Yourself are combining their bass heavy and booty-shaking powers this Saturday, presenting a set from the legendary DJ Zinc.

138 Trek, which conquered the UK garage and dance scene back in 2000, and his jungle remix of the Fugees' ‘Ready Or Not’ remain some of the most recognisable club tracks around - despite being released nine and 13 years ago respectively.

However, the east London DJ is playing a considerable part in the current scene. Zinc’s received the Radio 1 seal of approval for his speaker-juddering remix of La Roux’s Bulletproof, and has added beeps and blips to tracks by the likes of grime’s golden boy Skepta.

Credited with helping to define drum’n’bass and jungle genres, defying styles with his UK garage productions and catching the imagination of today’s scenesters through house beats beefed up with dubstep bass lines, Zinc’s heavyweight sounds are a treat for any urban dance head.

DJ Zinc is at The Roadhouse on Saturday, September 5. 11pm to 3am, £6 - advance tickets available.
