Human League want Big Weekend, baby!

SYNTH MAGIC: Human League SYNTH MAGIC: Human League

A BRITISH pop institution has stepped into the breach to fill the gap left by soul diva Kelly Rowland at Pride’s Big Weekend, it has been confirmed.

SYNTH survivors The Human League will bring their swagbag of classic 1980s cuts (Fascination, Human, Tell Me When and, of course, Don’t You Want Me?) to the Gay Village on Sunday, August 30.

Set to play directly after electro-pop upstart Frankmusik, the Steel City trio will be aiming to show the young dog a few old tricks.

They’ll be in good company too as fellow decade veterans Bananarama – who Oakey and Co recently played with at Tatton Park – are also on the bill over the Bank Holiday weekend alongside hip new cats Alphabeat, Freemasons, Little Boots and, ahem… Peter Andre.

Jackie Crozier, festival manager of Manchester Pride, said: “I’m so pleased that we managed to squeeze another headline into the Big Weekend. Human League has some amazing material and their back catalogue of tracks will, I’m sure, be a big hit with the crowds on Sunday night. I really think we’ve got something for everyone.”

The Big Weekend takes place between Friday, August 28 and Monday, August 31. For the full line-up, including performance times, check-out: www.manchesterpride.com.
