Manchester Pride book launched

Colourful Pride

THIS month sees the publication of a book dedicated to the Manchester Pride parade. Photographer, Ed Swinden, who formerly worked at the Manchester Evening News, put together the book over one day at the festival.

Following the parade from its frenzied last minute preparations, the book attempts to capture the colour and the character of one of the biggest events in Manchester's calendar, when thousands of people line the pavements. Winding through the city streets, the book finishes up in the Gay Village where the partying truly starts.

Packed with shots of camp creations and outrageous outfits, Swinden's book has all the glitter, sequins and leather accoutrements that spectators of the parade have come to expect. What's more, the book makes a perfect reminder of an all too brief event.
