Big night at the opera for Rufus

DONNA KING: Rufus DONNA KING: Rufus

EXCITEMENT is mounting ahead of the world premiere of Rufus Wainwright’s debut opera, Prima Donna, on Friday night as part of the continuing Manchester International Festival.

Rumours are rife that some seriously A-list guests are set to attend in support of singer-songwriter Rufus at the city’s Palace Theatre.

For his part, Rufus has been busily doing the rounds of big TV interviews ahead of the show. You can catch him on BBC1 tonight at 10.35pm when he talks to Alan Yentob about the opera.

And he’ll be pre-recording an interview with Jonathan Ross that will air on the presenter’s Friday night talk show, just as the opera itself is premiering to the great and good here in Manchester.
