Half-term time at Zion
ZION Arts Centre (pictured) in Hulme is offering a vibrant programme of half-term events for all ages.
The ODD Theatre Company is running a
Community Theatre Masterclass for Performing Arts students on Tuesday, February 12 from 1pm to 4pm, while on Thursday, February 14 there will be an African art and culture masterclass from 2pm to 5pm.
Action for Sustainable Living will present a workshop on working creatively with recycled materials on Wednesday, February 13 from 2pm to 4pm.
And for the under 11s, there are fun and
creative arts and craft activities from 10am to 11.30am, Monday to Friday, with the opportunity to build your very own flying machine at a kite flying workshop for seven to 11-year-olds on Friday, February 15 from 2pm to 3.30pm.
The centre is also offering a week-long selection of dance and performing arts classes for 11 to 18-years-olds, culminating in a grand finale on Friday.
Samba classes straight from Rio, the republic of swing, promise to teach learners infectious funk rhythms from 1pm to 2.30pm, Wednesday to Friday.
Also on offer at the same times are Afro-Brasilian Dance classes, taught by troupe Corpo Danca.
From Monday to Friday, 2.30pm to 4.30pm, local MCs Hypes and Versie will be teaching kids to 'show no mercy' with their rhymes, and budding turntablists can learn the tricks of the trade with DJ Drizz, from Monday to Friday between 4.30pm to 6.30pm.
From Monday to Friday between 10am to 12noon, streetdance is also on offer for eight to 15-year-olds.
The
Friday Finale takes place from 7pm and features a very special set from DJ Drizz. The event is free with a recommended £2 entry, while all classes are £1 each, or £4 for the week.
In between sessions, attendees will be able to play computer games on Zion's giant projection screen in the theatre, or watch a different film Monday to Friday from 2pm to 4pm.
