Greenroom’s Turn Prize: Official results

IT'S official: the results of Greenroom’s first open call dance platform are in. Beginning in March, shown over three varied evenings, the process has given us a clear winner. The GEF House Experiment’s Three Crows on the Road has been awarded the first ever Turn Prize.

Initially performing at Turn under the name Voidance, the group has since taken on the name The GEF House Experiment, comprising of Julia Griffin, Kate Engineer, as well as Bridget Fiske.

Of course, Greenroom has had the company of others searching for the best home-grown talent. With the incentive of a commission and premier showing for the winners, the panel said they “didn’t want to say no” to any of the 16 new dance or dance-video works.

But The GEF House Experiment has already shown how the panel’s decision has impacted on their experimental work which blends boundaries between dance and other art forms. Building upon the immersive experience containing gothic overtones which they presented to the greenroom’s audience, the group is developing a full-length work for Spring 2010.

If you’re at Greenroom on November 27 of this year, however, you can catch The GEF House Experiment receiving its premier at greenroom, a group which promises increasing development, according to judges Dance Initiative Greater Manchester, greenroom, Breaking Cycle, and hÅb.
