Nursery named in Top 200
A HEATON Norris pub has been named as one of the best 200 in the country.
Hydes-owned The Nursery is one of six pubs in Manchester and Cheshire highlighted by The Observer newspaper.
The Green Lane pub is no stranger to accolades – it was the first brewery-managed pub to win CAMRA Pub of the year award in 2002, and has gone on to receive many more titles since then, most recently being named CAMRA pub of the month this month (June) by Stockport and South Manchester CAMRA at the same time as it celebrated 25 consecutive years listed in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide.
The authors highlighted in their reasons for the selection in the Top 200 the pub’s fantastic bowling green, home-made food, live weekend entertainment and ‘wide range of superbly kept ales’.
David Safiruddin, of Hydes, said: “The Nursery thoroughly deserves this listing. It is a fantastic traditional pub which consistently retains is quality and its character making it a one off in the region, and, as shown by this article, the country.
“We are delighted that Simon Wetton and his team are continuing to build on a long standing success story.”
