Get your shorts on for charity

THERE really is nothing like charity to make us pull on those training shoes, dig out that fancy dress and come up with hair-brained schemes for making the most amount of cash out of a fun run.

True to this spirit is the Mini Monster Fun Bike And Run, on Sunday at Philips Park, Whitefield.

A duathlon of running and cycling (helmets are a must!), the event gives 25 per cent of all entry fees to Save The Children, and there’s plenty of scope for people to raise a little extra through sponsorship.

It is £5 to enter and for that you get a spot on the starting line, a T-shirt and a medal when you pass the tape at the finish.

The event hopes to beat last year’s Mini Monster fund of £150,000.

Philips Park, Whitefield, Sunday, £5 entry free. Register online at firstmonster.co.uk/minimonster and click on Manchester.
