Not Part Of: Poetry reading with X Factor

ON July 2, the cream of the north west’s poets will battle it out (using verse not fists) in a regional heat for a place in the national BBC finals.

Hosted by Write Out Loud, with BBC Radio 4 broadcasting, the competition is only open to previous slam winners who have won a bona fide slam since January 2006.

Each slam poet has no longer than 2’15 seconds to impress the X Factor style panel of judges. A horn will be sounded at the time limit with points being deducted for every 10 seconds over that limit.

Marks will be awarded out of 10, with decimal points, taking into account performance style, writing skill and audience reaction. This has all the markings of a ruthless and exhilarating competition.

This event is part of the Not Part Of Festival.
