Watch out! Women on the Verge at The Lowry

Louise Jameson (Vera), and Aidan O’ Neill (Fergal) in HRT Louise Jameson (Vera), and Aidan O’ Neill (Fergal) in HRT

A TRIP to the Emerald Isle, an Irish crooner and a plethora of personal problems – what could possibly go wrong?

Starring Louise Jameson (Eastenders, Dr. Who, Bergerac, Tenko) and Janet Dibley (Fat Friends, Where the Heart is, The Two of Us), Women on the Verge of HRT is a new comedy about the pitfalls and challenges, which accompany middle age.

Penned by Oliver-winning writer Marie Jones (Stones In His Pockets), when two women the ‘wrong’ side of 40 head for Donegal to catch the Celtic Cliff, Daniel O’Donnell, they come face to face with the realities of their lives – loveless marriages, husbands in the clutches of mid-life crises, the menopause (or should that be ‘mental pause’) and the prospect of being thrown on the sexual scrap heap.

Assisted by a handsome young waiter (it helps that he looks like O’Donnell), Vera and Anna confront their fears and begin to realise that life doesn't have to end when HRT begins.

Directed by Noreen Kershaw of hit channel 4 series Shameless, Women on the Verge of HRT arrives here on Monday for a six-night stand.

Women on the Verge of HRT is at The Lowry from Monday, June 22 until Saturday, June 27. Eves 8pm, Wed & Sat mats 2pm. £14 - £20, Conc £2 off except Fri & Sat eve. Box office: 0870 787 5793 or www.thelowry.com.
