ONE of the many phenomena of cyberspace in recent years, Popjustice is the daily port of call for any self-respecting pop muso after the latest gossip.

So it’s no wonder new club night Spending Daddy’s Money is based around the ethos of the hit website - namely that ‘pop music’ is not to be sneered at, dismissed or looked down on as the poor idiot cousin of so-called ‘real’ music.

In fact, it is to be celebrated as the most instant, pure, joyous and downright danceable form of music you can get.

Spending Daddy’s Money promises everything from Girls Aloud and La Roux to Janet Jackson, Britney and The Human League.

According to promoter Chris Styles, SDM’s philosophy is simple – to play pop music. Loudly.

All taking place at student fav Retro Bar, pop videos will be beamed throughout bringing a splash of colour to proceedings, electro-pop kids The Imogen Styles will play live, while on entry people will be handed a variety of activities that they can choose to participate in (or, alternatively, not), such as pop-themed wordsearches, crosswords, drawing competitions…

So then, it should all make for good clean, family fun... for grown ups.

Spending Daddy’s Money takes place on Friday, June 12. Doors 9pm-3am. Entry £3 before 10:30pm / £4 after / £2 NUS all night.
