Fringe festival proud to be not part of it

Ladyboys Of Bangkok Ladyboys Of Bangkok

THE Manchester International Festival is not the only huge arts event across the city next month – a host of fringe shows will take place as part of the Not Part Of Festival.

Events include Cornermen, a play in the ring of Moss Side Fire Station boxing club starring Shameless actor Ciaran Griffiths; Laughter Lines, a stand-up show made-up of 14-18 year-olds; Juba Do Leao – a floor-shaking collection of Brazilian Maracatu drummers and dancers and the always-popular Ladyboys Of Bangkok.

Creativity

The festival is being run in association with the Forever Manchester charity and the organisation’s Nick Massey said: “As everyone knows, Manchester has always been a hub of creativity across all artistic art forms, which has played a huge part in forging the city’s identity.

“The Not Part of Festival is a fantastic platform for up-and-coming Mancunian talent to reach a new audience and continue the city’s legacy and we’re delighted to be a part of giving them that opportunity.”

Awards

The festival takes place in venues across the city and this year it is also running a series of awards, including one judge by CityLife.co.uk.

The festival runs alongside the MIF from July 2 to 18. For more information visit notpartof.org or check out our previews to the right.
