Local film production company wins two slots at Edinburgh Film Festival
PUTTING Manchester firmly on the film-makers map, local production company Made Up North has had both its first two films accepted by the prestigious Edinburgh International Film Festival.
A Boy Called Dad stars Bury-born newcomer Kyle Ward as a 14-year-old father on the run with his newborn son. A Boy Called Dad also stars well-known actor Ian Hart (Harry Potter's Professor Quirrell), and has been scheduled for a high-profile slot on the second night of the Festival.
On June 27, Curtains - a short film by The Mighty Boosh's Julian Barratt and co-writer-director Dan Jemmett - will be screened as part of the Festival's UK Shorts 2 programme.
Made Up North was set up to make high-quality commercial British films outside London - and it looks like they're going the right way about it.
