Bananarama set to kick off this year's Manchester Pride

TONGUE-TWISTING 80s icons Bananarama (no, we can't spell it either) have just been confirmed as the opening act on the main stage at Manchester Pride 2009.

The all-gal band, whose hits include Venus and Cruel Summer, will perform on August 28 – the first night of Manchester Pride Big Weekend.

Other acts confirmed for the festival include The Whip, The Blow Wave and Booty Luv.

Tickets for the Big Weekend are on sale now and can be purchased at www.manchesterpride.com or at various venues around the city.
