Voters could be Outta Time thanks to Oasis gig

THAT\'S YOUR BALLOT: Oasis THAT'S YOUR BALLOT: Oasis

TO date they’ve been accused of leading our nation’s youth astray with their laddish ways, peddling derivative trad-rock and adding the beery call to arms ‘madferit’ to the English lexicon – but surely being responsible for potentially delaying an election ballot is a new one for Oasis.

As the first of the Burnage rockers' Heaton Park shows is booked to take place the same day as polling for the European elections, June 4, officials have warned it could delay the ballot.

According to NME.com, two nearby roads, Bury Old Road and Sheepfoot Lane, will close at 9.30pm on the day of the gig to allow the expected 70,000 fans to get away more easily, prompting election officials to urge local voters to apply for a postal vote to avoid voting troubles caused by poll booth access problems.

Polling stations are set to close at 10pm.

"Elections officers in Bury say that one way to avoid any potential problems would be to use a postal vote," a spokesperson from Bury council told BBC News.

Polls

"Alternatively, some people might choose to go the polls a bit earlier."

Oasis will play Heaton Park on June 4, 6 and 7, when they'll be hoping they get a tick in the 'Yes' box from their own constituents at least!

*IN other concert news drivers heading to the concerts will be directed to a park and ride site off the M62.

Promoters have employed a specialist traffic company who have worked closely with the local councils and the Highways Agency on to deliver a traffic management plan.

The gates will open daily at 2pm and those driving to the event will be directed onto the M62 and then off at Junction 19 towards Bowlee Recreation Ground where a park and ride shuttle to Heaton Park will operate.

There will be no access to the venue from Junction 19 of the M60, the nearest junction to the park.
