Waiting for The Whip in Camden
IT'S Friday 24th April 24, it's 3pm and it's hello one and all from a very sunny Camden.
In case you didn't catch the preview earlier in the week, over the weekend I'm going to be doing a wee bit of blogging a la Shaun Curran, keeping you updated with all the happenings and non-happenings from the Crawl, and with a particular eye to our home-grown Mancunian-based talent.
So far, it's pretty much all been about getting lost. And queuing. But I'm expecting things to improve.
Scuzziest, scariest way
Our very own The Whip are playing KoKo later, and I've also got my eye on The Jim Jones Revue; reanimating the cold dead bones of fifties rock n' roll in the loudest, scuzziest, scariest way possible.
There's also Marina and the Diamonds, who'll be coming to the Deaf Institute next week as part of Ladyhawke's Topman CTRL entourage, and Pulled Apart by Horses; four immensely talented Leodensians with a knack for writing some serious tunes, and with names to match: I Punched a Lion in the Throat. Indeed.
But I don't want you all to start thinking that this is all fun and games. No no no.
With tonnes of bands playing simultaneously, and right across Camden, first of all there's some serious planning to be done. So, henceforth to the supermarket.
Sunny spot
There are beers to be bought, a sunny spot by the canal-side to be found, and most importantly, a decision to be made about exactly how and where I'm going to be spending the night.
Camden Crawling doesn't require any knowledge of military precision, but it would really come in handy right now.
Until tomorrow then, it's over and out from Camden. Enjoy the sun.
