Celtic rockers The Men They Couldn't Hang celebrate 25th anniversay in Levenshulme
ALMOST (but not quite) homecoming heroes, legendary Celtic rock band The Men They Couldn't Hang plan to celebrate their 25th anniversary with a special acoustic set in Manchester.
"There was no way we couldn't come to Manchester," said guitarist Paul Simmonds. The band are set to perform in Levenshulme, home to the largest Irish community outside London, and have assured Citylife that "there will be the usual party pieces, jokes and attempts at long-forgotten songs as well as a rich smattering of our back catalogue."
The band first shot to fame in 1984 with the release of Green Fields of France, which still holds the record for longest No. 1 chart position in the Independent Charts.
The Men They Couldn't Hang play Manchester in association with the Manchester Irish Festival Tradfest. The gig is part of a twelve-date tour to mark their 25th anniversary and the release of their new album Devil On The Wind.
Catch The Men They Couldn't Hang at m19 bar, 847 Stockport Road, Levenshulme on Monday May 18. Tickets cost £7 in advance or £10 on the door.
