Gather for the best of the 24:7 Fest
WITH the last final play announced for this year’s 24:7 Theatre Festival – it’s The Coffee Hour by Michael Peacock from Sale – the final run-up to this year’s festival begins this weekend with Saturday’s Producers’ Day and Monday’s The Big Gathering.
The Producers’ Day is designed to let people know, face to face, about all sorts of things they may well not have thought about. Remember that a great idea, a wonderful piece of writing and any amount of good intentions don’t necessarily mean that your show will work without the proper clearances and all those dull things.
Also of crucial importance is this year’s 24:7 Theatre Festival Big Gathering, which will be held downstairs at Pure in The Printworks (near Urbis and Victoria Station) from 6- 9:30pm next Monday (May 11).
Actors are asked, says festival organiser David Slack, to 'please bring some CVs, your presence and your voice, as you’ll be able to meet the participating writers, producers and directors who are looking for actors’.
Big Gathering
If you’re unable to make the Big Gathering, though, all the available parts will be listed after the event on a page on the 24:7 website.
Some productions may still need to find a director. Please Get in touch with the Festival if you’d like an introduction to participating writers. at the Gathering.
Also more than welcome at the event are volunteers. Often the first point of contact for audiences, they help generate the festival atmosphere during the week and anyone who’s interested should in the first instance, go to the 24:7 website, where they can click on the ‘volunteer’ button.
There’ll be a chance to talk to 24:7’s co-founder Amanda Hennessy at the Big Gathering, so, if you prefer, you can bring the application with you.
If you’re blessed with technical skills, there’ll also be someone to speak to at the event about supporting the festival and the companies technically.
*This year’s 24:7 Theatre Festival runs from July 20-26 2009. For more details see the website at www.247theatrefestival.co.uk where you can sign up for regular festival updates.
