Robert launches Cabbage Hall with old pals
ACCLAIMED chef Robert Kisby launched his new venture in the heart of Cheshire – with the support of all his Manchester friends.
Robert, who won rave reviews as boss of Manchester’s Le Mont, has taken over his chef pal Francis Carroll’s eaterie Cabbage Hall at Little Budworth.
Manchester City favourite Gary Owen headed to the launch to wish him well – and promised to bring a host of his footy pals with him on his next visit.
He laughed: “I’ll bring a big group of 12 or so. But I think Robert will end up opening late that night!”
Also at the bash was Yang Sing restaurant supremo Gerry Yeung, who tells me he’s still hopeful of relaunching his Yang Sing Oriental Hotel that dramatically closed last month, blaming the credit crunch.
He said: “Everything is mothballed at the hotel, and if I can get the right backing hopefully we can reopen again.”
Meanwhile Robert was playing host with the most at his launch bash, waxing lyrical in a speech at the event about all the local quality produce he’d be serving up, with the pay-off line: “Basically, there’s no bull**** on my menu”.
Ahem, glad to hear it Robert!
