MIF: The Lowdown
IT'S the final push in the countdown to St. Patrick's Day on Saturday and no doubt the night before Ireland's favourite day of the year will be a fittingly raucous affair.
We've had parades, markets, festival tents and special prayer ceremonies so far, and the event has been hailed among the top three St Patrick's Day celebrations around the world, third only to Dublin and New York.
This weekend, the big build up finally meets the big day as thousands raise a glass and say a prayer in honour of Ireland's patron saint. But, as always, music, laughter and boozing top the timetable of events over the next three days.
So, tonight, there's a ShamRock 'n' Roll night and several live comedy events going on throughout the city, and in the morning St Patrick's Day kicks off at midday with the opening of the family fun fair in Levenshulme and culminates in the St Pats Party at Manchester Academy.
