MIF: Mystery Jets and Televised Crimewave play under-19s gig
JUST the ticket to make even the youngest Citylifer reach for their zimmer frame, precocious Manchester promoters Same Teens are taking over the Pavilion Theatre for the festival's opening weekend.
Having cut their teeth putting on shows for young audiences in venues from Sunshine Studios to the basement of Zavvi, Same Teens are doing their bit for the yoof by showcasing their best-loved bands on July 3 and 4.
Well, at least we can go, thinks Citylife (and stand at the back) - oh, wait a second, we can't. The Same Teens gigs are strictly for 15-19 year olds only. Age-ist, we call it.
Both dates will be headlined by recent Rough Trade signings and indie-pop favourites Mystery Jets.
The band will play alongside support acts including ex-Black Wire boys Televised Crimewavs and DJs including The Charlatan's Tim Burgess.
Same Teens also plan to organise a programme of weekend events for gig-goers.
