MIF: Laurie Anderson and Lou Reed premiere new songs
TAKING your husband/wife/partner on tour is a difficult thing to do (who's going to water the plants?) but if anyone deserves special dispensation it's rock 'n' roll legend Lou Reed and his wife, the performance artist Laurie Anderson.
Returning to Manchester to re-educate the city in the ways of the touring partnership - and to blot out Citylife's memories of *that* Pete Doherty/Kate Moss singalong - Lou Reed and Laurie Anderson are set to appear together for the very first time on stage in the UK.
Following Lou Reed's performance of Berlin at the 2007 Manchester International Festival, the couple have chosen the city to premiere new work The Yellow Pony And Other Songs.
The intimate show combines music, stories and poems, with Lou and Laurie performing solo pieces, duets, beat-driven improvised instrumentals, and spoken-word pieces from their own theatre works.
Laurie Anderson and Lou Reed are at the Palace Theatre, Oxford Road on July 18. Tickets cost £39.50/£29.50/£15 and are available from www.manchestertheatres.com/palacetheatre
