Sounds From The Other City to return this May Bank Holiday
SPRING has officially sprung here in Manchester, and with it comes news of the return of one of CityLife's favourite festivals.
Tickets are now on sale for 'Sounds From The Other City', Salford's new music extravaganza, which aims to set everywhere North of the Blackfriars Bridge aflame with auditory delights on May 3.
2008 saw Sounds From The Other City become one of the hottest tickets in town, with the event selling out in record time.
On events success organiser Mark Carlin said: “We started out putting on bands in these old pubs and bars along Chapel Street and we had no idea if it would work or not."
But work out it did, with The Ting Tings and The Answering Machine just two of the acts to have wowed the fest in the early days.
This year’s brand new line-up will see the likes of Lamb & Wolf, Terrorist, Mind on Fire, Hoya:Hoya, Bring on the Dancing Horses, Your Mama's Cookin', Comfortable on a Tightrope, Golden Lab, Bad Uncle and even Radio 1's Huw Stephens displaying their wares in venues across the city, and will feature performances from the likes of Marina and the Diamonds, the intriguingly named “Sh*t and Shine,” and everyone’s favourite Mancunian prog-rock eccentrics, Cats in Paris.
Tickets for the festival cost £12.50 (plus booking fee) and can be purchased either by directing your browser to http://quaytickets.com/WhatsOn/EventDetail.aspx?EventId=2877 or through Piccadilly Records. You can find out more about the festival via their website, www.soundsfromtheothercity.com.
