Noel: Credit crunch is good for music
IS the financial maelstrom, which is the credit crunch, good for music? Noel Gallagher seems to think so.
The wry Oasis songwriter jokingly told an overseas publication he hopes the financial crisis gets worse – because it will help bands write better music.
"I hope the financial crisis gets a bit worse - at least we'll get a few good albums out of it," he told That's Shanghai.
"When we started in the early ‘90s it was a pretty grim time when the Conservative [party] was still in power. Times of crisis usually bring out the best in music and fashion and politics and things like that."
Whether a plethora of new musicians are currently holed up in Burnage furiously penning seething lyrics about Fred the Shred only time will tell…
*IN other related Oasis news, fellow Mancs Doves have reportedly beaten them in a race to record a song for their beloved Man City. According to a national tabloid, their version of City anthem Blue Moon will be played before the game against Aston Villa tonight (March 4).
