Past volunteers (2007) Past volunteers (2007)

THE second Manchester International Festival takes place in July 2009 - and the organisers are looking for volunteers to help out. A series of recruiting events begins in Salford on February 23; and those interested have until March 31 to apply.

The festival will feature a huge programme of original work and special events, including Neil Barlett's new play Everybody Loves A Winner, which will bring bingo to the Royal Exchange Theatre; Rufus Wainwright's debut opera Prima Donna; and a commission by Zaha Hadid Architects 'to create a bespoke environment for the solo works for JS Bach'.

Volunteers are needed in the departments of artist liaison, research, photography, marketing, sponsorship and ticketing.
