Find the best of the north west
SPECIALITY food and drink from across the region is being highlighted in a special guide which celebrates the best of the north west.
The NW Food Lover’s Guide lists makers of produce from cheeses to chutneys, from real ale to ice cream. The 260-page guide also includes recipes and itineraries for visiting the producers listed.
Shlurlp
Greater Manchester producers include Chorlton’s Marble Beers and A S Greek Olives, of Salford. Outlets features include Harvey Nichols, Shlurp and Barbakan, in Chorlton.
One of the producers, Adesso Marianades, of Gorton, was founded by Rizwan and Brian Goodhand.
The company sells four marinades including, Portuguese Hot Marinade, Lemon and Herb Marinade, Orange and Honey Marinade and Chermoulla Marinade.
Adesso has collaborated with the Manchester Metropolitan University’s Advanced Food Department to ensure that the marinades do not need to be kept in the fridge.
Brian says: “Our range is made only from the finest, natural ingredients, without any additives. We are also delighted to be included in the guide, which gives us the opportunity to share our passion for quality food, that is nutritionally balanced, with people from across the north west and further afield.”
Pat Foreman, chief executive of Food Northwest, says: “The demand for quality regional and speciality local food is growing rapidly, fuelled by the passion of farmers, food producers and local chefs in the region.
Surprises
“Greater Manchester is a great place to seek out local and regional foods. Whether in the food halls and restaurants in Manchester city centre or the delis, markets, traditional butchers and pubs in the surrounding areas, there are many surprises to be found.”
The guide, published by Food Northwest, priced is out tomorrow (February 14), priced at £4.99.
