IT’S a big week for Manchester’s independent club scene this week with not one but two bands taking off their guitars and turning their skills to DJing in the city.

As, following Foals' turn at Clique on Friday (January 23) the excellent No Wave night at Deaf Institute on Wednesday has secured a real coup by getting Kele, from Bloc Party on board as special guest for their left field and live music party.

Bloc Party play rhe Apollo that night and the lead singer heads on over straight after the encores according to No Wave promoter DJ Wesley.

“You can expect to hear elements of the Bloc Party sound in Kele’s DJ set,” he explains.

“Fusing a mixture of indie, rock, party tunes and a few dance classics thrown in for new measure.”

Kele DJs at Now Wave at The Deaf Institute on Wednesday, January 28. 10pm - 2am. £7.
