TNA wrestling invasion to strike three
THERE’S something quite artistic about the world of wrestling. Well, artistic in a sort of faux brutal, camp and dramatic kind of way.
Kids love the excitement of it, it’s a tough sport and the wrestlers are clearly well honed athletes.
But it’s still a performance at the end of the day with carefully choreographed moves designed to look spectacularly impressive.
The WWF was the hit of the Eighties and it is still going strong under the moniker World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).
Sell-out success
And it’s that name which brings back memories of my brother threatening to ‘clothesline’ me, so I’m not particularly enthused about a new version.
However, earlier this year TNA Wrestling took the British scene by storm and since the acronym TNA Wrestling stands for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling it sounds much more exciting than my tortured memories of WWF.
Craig Jenkins from TNA said: “Our first experiences in England were incredible. The fans overwhelmingly embraced the TNA product in ways we couldn’t imagine.
“We are very excited about returning with an incredible roster of talent and matches that promise world class excitement that only TNA can deliver.”
Their 2010 tour will be the TNA wrestling tour’s third visit across the water (Olympic wrestling gold medallist Kurt Angle and Co. bodyslammed at the M.E.N. Arena in January) and fans should expect another all-star line-up.
TNA iMPACT! comes to the M.E.N. Arena on Friday, January 29. Tickets £20. Call 0844 847 8000.
