Mani: Roses should reform in 2009

COULD The Stone Roses follow in the footsteps of The Specials, Blur and The Faces and reunite in 2009? Well they will if gregarious bassist Mani has anything to do with it.

The now Primal Scream player is reported to have told a website that he would like the revered quartet to reform to mark the 20th anniversary of their seminal debut LP.

Apparently, reclusive drummer Reni and now full-time artist, one-time guitarist John Squire are already on board – with front man Ian Brown the only stumbling block.

The Heaton Chapel star told Channelbee: "Me, John and Reni are up for doing it and Ian just needs some working on.

"Next year is the 20th anniversary of the first album. It's the ideal time to do it.

“It's something I would love to do before we are all fat and bald. Start the campaign."

Brown, will take some convincing though. The singer, who has repeatedly rebuffed reunion suggestions, has built a successful solo career and is set to record his sixth album in Japan.

Do you think the Roses should reunited in 2009? Have your say.
