City return for Franz Ferdinand

TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT: Franz Ferdinand

AFTER appearing as surprise guests at The Warehouse Project recently, it has been confirmed as none other than CityLife’s favourite Scottish art-rockers Franz Ferdinand will return in March.

The quartet are set to showcase from their feverishly anticipated third LP, Tonight, which is due for release in January, at Academy 1.

The follow-up to You Could Have Had It So Much Better, which has been more than two years in the making, has been a stop start affair with original plans to record with Girls Aloud songwriting mastermind Brian Higgins abandoned.

Frontman Alex Kapranos and the boys eventually called on the services of Dan Carey, who has previously worked with hip indie-dance acts CSS and Hot Chip plus Sly & Robbie – so expect a dancier, synth-driven and even dub-tinged offering come January 26.

The record will be preceded by taster track Ulysses on January 19.
