Mooch Gallery toasts Artist of the Year

Adam Hayley and his work Adam Hayley and his work

STOCKPORT'S newest YBA Adam Hayley has been named Artist of the Year by the Northern Quarter's Mooch Art Gallery.

Adam was chosen by a panel of judges including Wayne Hemingway, Peter Saville, and Citylife.co.uk's very own Neil Sowerby as the artist most likely to go on to have a succesful career.

Working class stereotypes

Adam's grandad and his next-door neighbour both feature in his  portraits of working class stereotypes.  He is currently working on a portrait of XFM DJ and fan Clint Boon.

Adam says “I’m reflecting a culture that I belong to which is working class masculinity and male culture, and attempting to celebrate that culture”.

Adam's winning portraits have been on display at the gallery since November 27.
