Take That top singles chart again
TAKE That have shot to the top of held off the best the US R&B scene has to offer to claim the top spot in this week’s singles chart.
The Greatest Day beat presented the Manchester quartet with one of their finest as it rose above Beyonce and TI featuring Rihanna to go straight in at number one - their 11th chart-topper.
Comeback queen Britney Spears, fresh from her appearance on television’s X Factor, rose two places to number seven with Womanizer.
In the album chart, with the top three places all went going to new entrants, headed by The Killers’ Day & Age.
Pop siblings Same Difference – themselves former X Factor contestants – were the second highest new entrants with their push for Christmas glory We R One reaching 13.
And former contestant Rhydian entered the album charts at number three, his eponymously named disc was one place above Leona Lewis, who also made her name on the ITV 1 show.
In contrast, The Salvation Army - whose existence somewhat pre-dates that of Simon Cowell’s show - saw their collection of spiritual tunes reach the top 20.
Take That will go head-to-head with Britney in the album charts this week now, with their new long player The Circus up against the once troubled popstar's own record, coincidently called Circus too.
