Kay's Geraldine speak to Century

TAKING OVER THE AIRWAVES: Geraldine TAKING OVER THE AIRWAVES: Geraldine

PETER Kay’s alter ego, and Pop diva sensation, Geraldine McQueen phoned into Century Radio’s Big Breakfast show for a chat with presenters Ditchy and Salty.

Her open gambit was to call Simon Cowell “the Grinch that stole the Christmas single” and state that “Geraldine is stealing it back for the people of Britain…. and the NSPCC.”

This was in reference to the domination the X Factor has had on the No1 position in the Christmas singles charts since 2005.

So much so that bookies now take bets on the Christmas No2… as if it’s the No1. But this year Geraldine intends break their run with her fantastic festive single, ‘Once Upon A Christmas Song’.

Salty asked if everyone wants a piece of her since she won ‘Britain's Got The Pop Factor ... And Possibly A New Celebrity Jesus Christ Soapstar Superstar Strictly On Ice’ and she said: "They’re queuing up, I’m supposed to be the new face of ‘Evens’ in the New Year; Mrs Hagrid in the Deathly Hallow, I’ve had a word with J.K. Rowling and Mrs Hagrid’s coming in! I’ve just been in the Jungle for two weeks on reserve.”

Salty said she would have been great in the jungle, “I know, I was there with Colonel Gaddafi and Slash… sitting around waiting for two weeks. That Colonel Gaddafi knows some filthy jokes!” Continuing she added; “It’s been a whirlwind, it’s taken my breath away, which is a worry because I’m asthmatic.” she joked….

Gary Barlow

The new single is co-written with Take That’s Gary Barlow and she spoke about Robbie rejoin the band; “Robbie’s not coming back to Take That at all. He’s away with the fairies… they don’t need him to come back.”

Salty said that Robbie lives in LA with all his celebrity friends and would Geraldine like to go out and spend some time with him? “Not at all. He live next door to Joe Pesci, I might go and see Joe. I like him and all but Rude Box, that was the final nail in the coffin for Robbie.”

She also claimed to have been a roadie for Robbie and Deacon Blue before his ‘operation... “I was a roadie for a long time; before I went on the oil rigs.”

Salty said later: “Geraldine was enormous fun, she had Ditchy in stitches. We really do hope the single is the Christmas number one and make masses of money for the NSPCC.”

And Ditchy added: “He was hilarious. We had a listener call in after to tell us she had been travelling to work in her car and was stuck in traffic listening to us. She said she was laughing so hard the driver in front thought she was having a turn jumped out and ran back to see if she was ok!!”
