Big screen for Arctic Monkeys' show
GOOD news for Arctic Monkeys fans. After success with The Last Shadow Puppets, Alex Turner’s attentions appear to be slowly returning to his day job.
The band are reportedly regrouping this month to begin work on their third studio LP and to heighten expectations are set to release a DVD of a Manchester tour date as well to whet the appetite.
Recorded at their hastily arranged show last December to complete their biggest UK indoor tour to date, Arctic Monkeys at The Apollo is a 76-minute film from Warp Films (Dead Man's Shoes, This is England, Scummy Man and Leave Before the Lights Come On).
Directed by Richard Ayoade (regular Warp Films music video director and actor from Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, The Mighty Boosh and The I.T. Crowd), the release features such anthems as I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor, When The Sun Goes, Fluorescent Adolescent and A Certain Romance and is said to capture the vim and vigour of the Monkeys at their live best.
And fans can watch a one-off screening of the release – set to hit the shops on November 3 – at a selection of Vue and other independent cinemas across the UK on October 14.
Tickets for Vue cinema screenings are now available to Arctic Monkeys' fans, before going on general sale at 9am on Tuesday, September 16 by phone on 08712 240 240. Tickets for Independent cinema screenings will go on sale at 9am on Monday, September 22.
