Fallowfield pub's 'green' beer fest

HYDES’ Friendship Inn in Fallowfield is all set to launch its six-day beer festival, Fallowfest, with a special green theme and its very own special brew, Fallowfield Flattener, topping the bill.

The beer festival celebrates the very best in real ale and will take place at the pub from noon on September, September 15 until Saturday, September 20 (or until the beer runs out!).

In a bid to reduce the carbon footprint of the event, the event will celebrate local brewing with all of the 18 cask ales being sourced locally, with the mileage they have travelled listed clearly on their pump clip.

Over the five days beers will be available from local breweries including Phoenix Brewery in Stockport, Dunham Massey Brewery and the Marble Brewery.

Top of the list, however, will be the special Fallowfield Flattener. a strong 6.5 per cent ABV ale which has been specially brewed for the occasion by Hydes, which will travel just 2.7 miles from its Moss Side brewery.

Other attractions include live music and entertainment every evening, food from the pub’s new Sayuri Noodle Bar and a special raffle to win a bike to raise money for St Ann’s Hospice.

Other beers on tap for the week include: Wobbly Bob and Spotland Gold from Stockport’s Phoenix Brewery, Smokey Joe’s Black Beer form Dunham Massey, Top Hop and Hornbeam Bitter from Hornbeam Brewery, Audley Gold and Flower Dew from Townhouse Brewery in Stoke, Ginger Marble and Tawny No 4 from Marble Brewery.
