The Pirates Of Penzance comes to Tatton Park
You don’t always need sumptuous sets in a grand establishment to create great entertainment and I have become a fan of Illyria, a small touring company which specialises in outdoor theatre.
Their productions are always great fun and I am looking forward to seeing a departure from the norm this weekend, when they perform The Pirates Of Penzance in the beautiful grounds of Tatton Park.
One of Gilbert and Sullivan’s most popular comic operettas, in Illyria’s hands The Pirates Of Penzance is sure to be packed with laughter, romance and fantastic songs.
As it’s performed outdoors, you may want to take umbrellas along with you as a precaution, but usually there’s cover for the audience – meaning it’s just the the poor actors who get wet if it rains.
While a sunny summer’s evening is idyllic, this should be a treat whatever the weather.
Touring Theatre in Tatton Park Tomorrow at 6.30pm. Tickets: Children £7, Adults £10 (01625 374 400. tattonpark.org.uk)
