Lay Down and Love Me Again @ 24:7 Theatre Festival

ALL the way from Toronto for an energy-sapping one-man show comes the remarkable, if bewildering, James Howell.

He bounds onto the stage in his pyjamas as wannabe Kevin acting out a string of persona in his bedroom - from a southern preacherman to a Russian professor celebrating Dostoevsky.

In the course of a non-stop, high-velocity stream of ideas, he touches on abortion, death, sex, religion and the rest in a dazzling range of voices, accents and rhythms.

He looks like Greg Rusedski and, in something of a tour de force, serves up a disjointed verbal assault in a highly physical performance.

Lay Down and Love Me Again is at the Midland Hotel until Saturday, July 26. Click here for more information.
